Events

Small evenings in the shop — seats are limited, conversations are not rushed.

We host a handful of gatherings each season rather than a crowded calendar. Most evenings begin after closing time so daytime browsers keep their quiet. Capacity is usually eighteen to twenty-four people, depending on whether we clear the centre table. Free entry unless a guest asks for a modest ticket to cover travel; we state that clearly when we announce the night.

To reserve a place, call +40 264 555 318 or email [email protected] with your name and the event title. We reply with a confirmation or a waitlist note. If you cannot come, tell us early so someone else can take the chair.

Translator’s table — contemporary Romanian prose

Thursday evening · doors 19:15 · shop floor

A working translator reads a short passage in Romanian and English, then opens the floor to questions about cadence, dialect, and what gets lost on purpose. Bring a notebook if you like; recordings are not invited unless the guest agrees in advance.

Books related to the evening sit on a temporary table near the poetry wall. You may browse before and after; purchases are welcome but never required for a seat.

Quiet launch — debut poetry

Selected Fridays · 19:30 · standing room at the edges

Local and visiting poets read for twenty minutes, followed by an informal signing. We keep the lighting soft and the amplification off when the room allows. Arrive a little early; latecomers may need to stand by the essays wall.

Saturday morning pages — open reading hour

One Saturday per month · 10:30–11:30

No microphone, no theme beyond “bring a page you care about.” Readers take three to five minutes each. First-time speakers are welcome. Coffee stays outside the shop; water is fine at the window table.

Private groups & book clubs

By arrangement · weekday late afternoon preferred

Clubs of six to twelve can reserve the centre table for a discussion after we set aside copies. We can suggest editions and prepare a short pull-list. Write to us with preferred dates and the title you are reading.

Announcements also appear on the handwritten board by the door. If an evening is cancelled for weather or illness, we contact everyone on the list and post a note on the shop window the same day. We do not sell sponsorship packages or turn readings into product launches for brands outside books.

Accessibility: the entrance has a single step; please call ahead if you need assistance arranging a seat near the door. Events are in English, Romanian, or both — we list the language with each invitation.
